Cream until light and fluffy:
½ cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
Add
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
Beat well.
Sift together
1 cup + 3 tbsp flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp baking soda
Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, folding to combine well. Fold in
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
1/2 cup dried cherries, chopped
Spread in a parchment lined 9 inch square baking pan and bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees F. (325 for glass bake ware) Remove from oven and cool thoroughly before frosting and cutting. Makes 25 squares.
Cream Cheese Frosting
Beat together until smooth
1/2 cup cream cheese
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups icing sugar
